Kilifi youth redefine coastline, battling plastic pollution

On white sands that once gleamed, beneath glistening blue waters, the Indian Ocean cries out. Choked by plastic waste and marine pollution, its flora and fauna face a looming threat. This blue economy, vital to Kenya's prosperity, hangs in the balance.

A staggering Usd940 billion in lost tourism revenue and declining fisheries tell a grim story confirmed by NEMA's Marine Litter Management Action Plan: coastal ecosystems are buckling under the weight of human waste.

Irvington Redefined

According to the American Library Association, seven out of the 13 most challenged books of 2022 in public and school libraries across the U.S. were challenged for LGBTQIA+ content, with the Top 2 books both centered around LGBTQ+ community still has a long way to go in raising public understanding and acceptance.

Earlier in 2023, students at Irvington High School painted a new mural to celebrate the diversity of the student body. Members of Redefine Z, a student-led activist nonprofit organization, used the mural as a way to advocate for minority groups in the Irvington community, such as LGBTQ+ and disabled students, by highlighting their part in the community...
